The other day a friend of mine hit me up and asked me to help her learn how to pray. Now I love prayer. I mean you cannot text me this and not get a full sermon complete with a song on prayer.This is because, God has been so faithful in answering my prayers that I believe that prayer works.
MATHEW 6:8-13
And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words.Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him.“This, then, is how you should pray:
“ ‘Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. And forgive us our debts,
as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from the evil one.
Today, I will share with you 3 ways that can help you grow your prayer life. The thing about prayer is that it is conversation between you and God. Prayer, is God’s way of establishing His will here on earth.
How to grow in prayer
1. Know who you are praying to.
Think of God as you dad. Someone who loves you at your shittiest! Someone who wants the best for you. Jeremiah 29:11 says For I know the plans I have for you. Plans for good and not harm, plans to give you a future and a hope. Imagine this is your dad. He can do Anything and everything for you. When God looks like a mythical object that’s so complex and far fetched, its hard to connect. But when he is your father, you just talk. Daddy, today I am so tired, please give me energy for today. Help me take a restful nap and wake me up feelings refreshed. He does just that.
2. Pray God’s Word
There are no formulas as to how to pray. For me the trick is to pray Gods word. He knows his word and he honors his word above his name. And you can pray with your eyes open so you read the bible as you pray. So when you tell him “ Lord you have said in Psalms 37:4 that if I delight myself in you, you will give me the desires of my heart, he knows what you are talking about and he cannot lie so he has to do what his word says. On the bible app in the search area if you type “Joy” verses come up, that’s where to start.
3. Pray with someone
Praying with someone takes a load of your spirit. With time you will learn how easier it is to pray with someone else. The thing behind this is in the Bible it says that where two or three are gathered in His name, he will be there in our midst. This is a call for fellowship. Your walk with God is a relationship that grows when you share the love of Jesus with others.

Father in heaven, I thank you for whoever is reading this prayer. I pray father that as they begin to seek you that you may open their hearts to receive from your spirit and to enjoy fellowship with you.
Holy Spirit of the sovereign Lord, work your way in him or her and reveal the secrets of the Kingdom to them. I pray Father that you May begin to honor their requests as you continue to make deposits in their lives as they seek you.
We delight ourselves in you and declare that you are our joy. W know that you will grant us the desires of our hearts as long as we continue delighting in you.
In Jesus name we pray,
