Ladies, it’s a new year and I know many people are quickly setting the intention for the coming year.
I am seated in a bank hall and two words came to me from the book of James.
MOTIVES AND TONGUE
“Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you. But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. That person should not expect to receive anything from the Lord. Such a person is double-minded and unstable in all they do.”
jAMES 1:2-8 NIV
As you are setting your intentions for this year, it is imperative that we have our intentions right. The thing about our intentions is that they are so deep set within us. You can speak or say things, but your intentions seem to always come up. Our intentions are similar to the unseen bits of an iceberg
We speak very frequently of crazy faith and our crazy faith declarations. Which is good, I actually recommend you do it. The one thing I want to draw your heart to is “What is my intention with my crazy faith declaration?”
The Bible says that, the testing of our faith produces perseverance. Meaning if our intentions or motives behind our crazy faith are not right (or in alignment with God’s will) then the testing of our faith will breed complaining.
And just now the Spirit of God made me re-read the second part “LET perseverance finish it’s work” so you can be complete and lack nothing! Meaning, God doesn’t let us go through some tough seasons for nothing! It is so that we come out complete and ready for the next level. So if our intentions are wrong, we complain through perseverance, we come out worse than we went in.
Then comes the juicy part. IF ANY OF YOU LACKS WISDOM……Let him ask GOD (not Google or Mamake Bobo or your favourite influencer) Now we have not only matured in our faith, we have matured and *lack nothing*
So when we lack nothing our *ask* is different
Now you’re asking out of abundance and the Bible cautions us to BELIEVE. In fact it says “MUST BELIEVE”
Believing requires faith and faith comes from hearing the good news about Christ. As you ponder about this word, allow the Spirit of God to reach inside you and bring out your intension. This is no that should they be wrong, you can repent of it. Should they be good, then you can give thanks for them.
I will share the second part concerning the tongue next week.
Be Blessed!
Love,
Joy
